“California is one of the toughest markets with the highest demands for quality in the world. I hope to bring all the lessons learned from operating in California to new markets; helping operators avoid the minefield of navigating a constantly changing landscape. The challenges of regulation, competition, public relations, and an ever-increasing demand for better quality, record-keeping and operational excellence require companies to level up in a big way to find success. I hope to be a resource for you for your company’s journey to success. “ Chris Leavitt

The Team

Christopher Leavitt is a plant scientist and operations manager who is passionate about all aspects of cannabis cultivation. Through his experience as Co-Founder, Chief Science Officer and Chief Operations Officer for Node Labs/Compound Genetics, he has had the opportunity to build two of the most highly regarded cannabis companies worldwide. He pioneered a commercial cannabis tissue culture process, ran a successful commercial nursery, designed an advanced genetics development pipeline, leveled up clone stabilization and breeding for Compound Genetics, and has since consulted to build laboratories and improve grows in several US States, Canada, Israel, and Portugal.

With a focus on European producers, Christopher is excited to bring his expertise to help companies in new and emerging markets to level-up their game. Clients can choose to engage for just one or two of the services provided, but a holistic approach to company operations improvement allows the client to leverage his unique experience for maximum benefit.

Growing Operations

Although growing quality flower requires artistry and instinct, there is a clear set of parameters and SOPs that will get you most of the way there. The rest comes down to experience and cultivar to cultivar behavior. Locking in the following aspects will nearly guarantee success for any size grower.

  • SOPs

  • Irrigation Control

  • Environmental Controls

  • Facility Design

  • Data Collection and Reporting

  • Vendor Relationships

  • Training, Task Lists and Job Descriptions

Christopher has been active in breeding, selecting, and conducting agronomic studies on numerous cultivars for brands like Khalifa Kush, Compound Genetics, Fullmoon Genetics, Midwest Best, and Humboldt Seed Co. He has helped to create multiple award-winning strains that have gone on to became world-wide favorites. He created a selection protocol that he has presented as a seminar and wrote a chapter of a book about, that has now gone on to become an industry standard for how selection is conducted. One of the most impactful aspects of the agronomic studies is the creation of Grow Guides, which detail the behavior of the plant and include recommendations on the latest techniques of crop steering to allow the grower an excellent run on their first try.
